Medicinal Plant Walk
August 6, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm PDT
ave you ever wondered what that little flower is on the forest floor or which plants are safe to eat and which are not? Join Birch Kuch on Saturday August 6th from 1-3 pm for an afternoon walk through the Wells marsh and Community Forest to identify many of the useful plants that grow all around us. We will focus on abundant species that are resistant to over harvesting while discussing wildcrafting ethics, processing techniques, and common ailments suitable to herbal treatment.
Birch’s passion for wild medicinal and edible plants started as a child picking berries. As he grew up he found out that many of his favourite smelly plants, from yarrow and wild mint to willow and aspen, are actually useful to us as medicine.
Herbal medicine is not a replacement for mainstream medicine, but the two complement each other very nicely. A basic understanding of safe local herbs can help prevent and ameliorate some of the ailments that modern medicine struggles with.
