Curbside Free Your Things Event

Freehis event is now Cariboo-wide! Please tell all your friends and neighbours. The more FREE THINGS locations in your area, the more traffic you will receive!
HOW TO SIGN UP
Message or email us (cccswastewise@gmail.com) with:
your address, including postal code
a brief list of the free things you expect to have
and we will add your location to our interactive map.
DEADLINE TO SIGN UP
Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10 PM
Late entries cannot be added to the map.

PROCEDURE FOR PLACING ITEMS AT CURBSIDE
Put your items at the end of your driveway or on the curb during the weekend. This event runs from 9 AM Saturday, June 18 to 5 PM Sunday, June 19.
Clearly mark your items with a “FREE” sign.
Ensure items are in good condition for re-use or able to be repaired.
Keep items you do not want to give away close to your home, or inside, to avoid confusion.
Remove all uncollected items from the curb BY DUSK on Sunday, June 19.
Do not discard items on another person’s lawn.
PROCEDURE FOR TREASURE HUNTERS
Respect private property. Do not walk or drive on people’s lawns.
Take only the item(s) at the curb marked “FREE”.
Obey traffic laws. Do not block traffic.
Watch out for children and pets.
Respect other treasure hunter’s personal space and distance.
WHAT CAN BE PLACED AT THE CURB
books, CD’s
furniture, small appliances
toys, sports gear
tools, gardening stuff
kitchen items
electronics
clothing
holiday decor
WHAT SHOULD NOT BE PLACED AT THE CURB
Items that are not re-usable.
Items that could be infested with bed bugs (eg. mattresses, bedding).
Items that are unsafe to give away (eg. expired car seats). Visit the Consumer Product Safety Bureau to find out more.
WHAT TO DO WITH LEFTOVER ITEMS
Donate to a local charity.
Post on Facebook marketplace, Kijiji or Craigslist.
When in doubt, find out. Contact the Recycling Council of BC (1-800-667-4321) to find out if your items are recyclable.
