SUMMARY:31st Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Mail Run
DESCRIPTION:The Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Mail Run is living history for the past 31 years. Our dedicated mushers and their dog teams will again be sworn in as official mail carriers and will carry Canada Post mail in their dog sleds over the Gold Rush Trail to Barkerville. \nPlease support this special year by purchasing unique Mail Run envelopes that are sold from this website or at local outlets\, stamped “Carried by Dog Team” and hand cancelled by volunteers in Quesnel\, Wells and Barkerville\, the three post offices along the route. Once delivered to Barkerville\, this mail enters the regular mail system for delivery anywhere in the world.

DESCRIPTION:This course will take place in Quesnel/Barkerville area\nDuration: 2 days (1 day or 8 hours classroom\, and 1 day in the mountains\, accessed by sleds). The class will be hosted in Prince George and Wells/Barkerville area unless otherwise identified. \nBy the end of this introductory course\, you will understand how to: \n\nEvaluate the basics of avalanche formation and release\nIdentify avalanche terrain\nKnow the steps required to plan and carry out a trip\nUse appropriate decision-making tools\nFind resources for obtaining terrain ratings if a trip is not rated\nFind resources for obtaining Avalanche Danger Ratings and Avalanche Bulletins if these are not available\nCarry out a companion rescue\nUnderstand the limits of your training.\n\nParticipants must have a sled\, helmet\, and basic avy gear (shovel\, probe\, and digital transceiver). We can rent you avalanche gear if let us know in advance.\nParticipants under the age of 19 must register with a parent that will accompany them as a full participant. \nPricing: $380+GST. \nOffered for recreational users\, or modified for occupational courses
