Within each baggie will be a scrap piece of paper—a prompt to contribute to an ongoing archive in any way that feels right to you. \nThrough this collective time\, the artist hopes to continue nurturing acts of sharing space\, stories\,energy\, and food—together. \n\n\nArtist Bio:  🔮 Snack Witch aka Joni Cheung 🍡 is a grateful\, uninvited guest born—and knows she wants to die—on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm\, Skwxwú7mesh\, Stó:lō\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh peoples. They are currently toiling over their MFA on the stolen lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka peoples to become a Certified Sculpture Witch at Concordia University. She holds a BFA with Distinction in Visual Art (2018) from the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free soup luncheon and open house Monday\, November 13th from 12 pm to 2 pm to mark the 89th birthday of the Wells Hotel.\nWhen the Cariboo Gold Quartz mine opened early in 1933\, a survey of the Townsite of Wells was done by Major E.J. Gook. The first two lots\, on the corner of Pooley Street and Sanders Avenue\, were sold by the Townsite Company to entrepreneur Paddy MacDonell who built the Wells Hotel on the site. \nThe Wells Hotel was completed late in the fall of 1934\, and a huge opening party was held at the hotel on the evening of November 13\, hosted by the owners\, Paddy and Mrs. MacDonell. For this special occasion the electric power supplied to the town was turned on for the first time. \nWhile the Wells Hotel has seen many changes in ownership and several renovations in its long history\, it continues to be a significant landmark in the town\, offering an air of stability and culture to the ever-changing socio-economic landscape of Wells. \nWe’re inviting the community to join us for a free hot bowl of soup to gather a mark another year in the history of the hotel.

DESCRIPTION:A one-day treeplanting extravaganza to support the community of Wells in its pursuit of education for youth. \nAre you interested in planting trees to support our destination high school initiative in Wells? We’re looking for planters to join us on the block on June 24th to achieve our goal of planting 15\,000 seedlings. All planters will be provided with lunch\, refreshments and a free ticket to the Tree Planter’s Ball in the evening.
