These platforms provide knowledge that can be easily disseminated between family and friends who physically can’t be together. In these worlds\, authors can speak to their connections to dishes they are teaching others to make. However\, some narratives need to be re-examined and chewed on.\n\nMotivated by her ancestors’ relationship to food and migration\, Soba’s Corner is a video series that unpacks distinct Chinese-Canadian dishes from specific provinces. Posted on YouTube and disguised as a typical how-to cooking show\, another conversation and narrative are hidden in the Canadian English closed captions and the “recipe” linked in the description box.\n\nAbout the Artist:  Snack Witch aka Joni Cheung  is a grateful\, uninvited guest born—and knows she wants to die—on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm\, Skwxwú7mesh\, Stó:lō\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh peoples. They are currently toiling over their MFA on the stolen lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka peoples to become a Certified Sculpture Witch at Concordia University. She holds a BFA with Distinction in Visual Art (2018) from the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University. As a wicked #magicalgirl  who eats art and makes snacks\, she has exhibited and curated shows\, off- and online\, across Turtle Island.\n\nThey are a recipient of numerous awards\, including the BC Arts Council Scholarship and the Dale and Nick Tedeschi Studio Arts Fellowship. She was waitlisted for the SSHRC – Joseph-Armand Bombardier: Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship.\n\nIMA’s Gallery Program acknowledges the financial support of the province of British Columbia

DESCRIPTION:Do you have an art project you’ve been neglecting? Do you want to meet up with other folks in Wells and share what you know? Looking to get crafty this fall? Then join us for Wells Works Wednesdays!\nIMA will be hosting workshops starting Wednesday September 11 until November 20. Workshops will be held at 2323 Pooley Street (the IMA Gallery) from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. All ages are welcome. Materials\, coffee\, tea\, hot chocolate and snacks by donation. \nDates are: \n\nSeptember 11\nSeptember 23\nOctober 7\nOctober 23\nNovember 6\nNovember 20\n\nAdditionally\, we’re encouraging workshop participants to submit their work made in these sessions to the 2024 Wells Works Exhibition (running Nov. 28- Jan. 5). We love this annual exhibition\, which celebrates work from folks living in the Wells/Barkerville/Bowron areas. If you cannot participate in the workshops\, but would like to submit to the Wells Works Exhibition\, we encourage you to submit as well. \nContact info@imarts.com for any other questions.\nIMA’s Public Gallery operations are made possible through the support of the Province of British Columbia. This reception will be accompanied by a draw night led by Miss Peachey\, exploring topics of place and reflection. \nThis exhibition is from the permanent collection of Island Mountain Arts. The exhibition follows four parts\, such as four seasons\, and takes the audience down a path of reflection and exploration. The viewer will go through the topics of settling\, standing\, rest\, and guidance\, in relation to the idea of roots. Posing the audience to think about; What nurtures the love for art in wells? How does art nourish the people of wells?
