SUMMARY:Migration Parade: A Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This exploratory workshop welcomes all to participate. The workshop is free to the public thanks to support from the Canada Council for the Arts\, Arts Across Canada Public Outreach program. This exploratory workshop welcomes anyone over 16 to participate\, no materials needed! \nLimited spots available\, secure yours by emailing info@imarts.com or calling IMA at 250-994-3466. \nThis workshop moves away from teaching technical skills and instead aims to cultivate and deepen sensitivity as it applies to the arts. \nThe first half of the workshop will be mindfulness exercises done individually\, in partners and in the context of the larger group\, specifically relating to two aspects of embodiment: attuned listening and manual/haptic sensitivity (becoming attuned to the wisdom of our hands as it applies to art-making). \nThe second part of the workshop will be an application of our explorations in the form of ephemeral art pieces. The impetus for the pieces will come from ideas generated by the group itself. In this way\, we will build on the aesthetic themes we have been exploring up until that point. \nThis workshop features arts-based sequences\, somatics\, mindfulness techniques and playful experimentation/inquiry drawn from our respective studio practices\, with references and anchoring in the work on display in the IMA gallery space. \nExperience in the arts not a prerequisite. Open mind and curiosity a necessity.

While revisiting the shores of Juno beach\, Jake encounters Isabelle\, a precocious 10-year-old from the local village. Isabelle’s inquisitive nature and charm challenge the old soldier to confront some long-ignored ghosts – most notably the war-time death of his eldest brother\, Chester\, a once promising young musician. SUMMARY:The Sunset Cabaret - Chris Cooley's 40th Birthday Edition
DESCRIPTION:The Sunset Cabaret is a long-standing tradition at the Sunset Theatre\, inspired by the coffee houses of the 1960s and the popular Theatrical Happenings of the 1970s.  IMA used to host periodical Coffee Houses\, inviting anyone and everyone to participate in an evening of sharing creative stories\, songs\, poetry\, dance\, film\, whatever was your fancy.  Since re-opening its doors in 2006\, there have been 44 Sunset Cabarets\, hosting 100s of artists from Wells\, Barkerville or just driving through town. Intended to be a fundraiser for the Sunset Theatre\, the Cabarets have become a tradition over the years. \nThe Sunset Cabarets were hosted by our beloved Tim Sutherland who gathered the group together to create a raucous and memorable evening. The baton has been passed to Stu Cawood and James Douglas who give of their time to carry on this tradition\, bringing together the community in laughter and song. \nAll ages are welcome\, however extreme\, over-the-top\, risque content is typical. Course language and adult themes are often featured. \nDoors open @ 7:30PM • Show starts at 8PM \nNB • Adult content

Their individual styles are eclectic\, adding a dynamic edge to their songwriting. On stage there is no doubt that these four friends are in their happy place\, so come see what all the fuss is about! \nSince finding each other in Nelson\, B.C. back in 2008\, The Party on High Street has worked tirelessly to bring their signature feel-good funk jams to the people! The Party plays a lively dance-inducing mix of funk\, folk and jazz fuelled rock’n’roll\, joyfully delivered with colorful stage presence and energy. The band sings of peculiar youthful enchantments\, weird love\, and some of the odder aspects of life. Touring and playing live shows has fed their funky spirits since the beginning. Every year they travel further into the Canadian music scene. Playing the\, bars\, cafes\, backyards and festival stages.
