SUMMARY:Creative Watch Party - Nightbitch!
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to watch an excellent movie\, with a twist. You too can create as you enjoy. It’s a Creative Watch Party. Let the movie inspire your writing\, drawing\, arting of any kind in the low-lighting\, with popcorn and drinks! And of course\, you can simply come to watch if that suits you better. \nNightbitch is a film created from Rachel Yoder’s book\, turned into a stunning piece of comedic horror by Director Marielle Heller and starring Amy Adams: “An artist who pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mum seeks a new chapter in her life and encounters just that\, when her nightly routine takes a surreal turn and her maternal instincts begin to manifest in canine form.”\nWhat’s not to love and resonate with?! \nTickets at the box office from 7.30pm\, show at 8pm. Concession available and there will be time for discussion with Sarah Guest and EmmaJ over drinks afterwards too.

SUMMARY:The Chimney Swallows
DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, October 25th @ 8PM at The Sunset Theatre! \nThe Chimney Swallows are a unique folk music duo and microtheatre troupe composed of songwriters Raghu Lokanathan and Corwin Fox. Playing music together casually\, while working for (& picketing at) the Victoria Public Library the friends discovered they had a mutual affinity for long conversations\, song games and the stories of random strangers\, & so began The Chimney Swallows. \nThis is a spontaneous opportunity to enjoy a special performance by this unique duo as Raghu now resides in Prince George and Corwin on Vancouver Island\, so it is rare to see them together\, much like the avian phenomenon after which they are named. \nTo create ‘Cut Down’ Raghu and Corwin memorized actual conversations they had with their elderly neighbours and used them to create a new conversation between two old men who never met in real life. ‘Cut Down’ is an exploration of aging and change\, and gently touches upon the universal suffering and hilarity inherent to both. Please be advised there is some strong language. \n‘Has There Been a Time Since?’ is a short spoken experience that leads the audience through a weekend at a music festival from the perspective of a veteran performer who is observing the experience they are having while they are in the throes of it. \nTickets are $25.00

SUMMARY:Theatre in the Bog
DESCRIPTION:Join us on August 1st for Theatre in the Bog! \nFeaturing a line-up of the best and brightest artists from the Cariboo and beyond\, Theatre in the Bog offers playful\, daring theatre mixed with a healthy dose of folksy charm. \nBrian Fidler\, the Artistic Director of Ramshackle Theatre\, is working with artists and theatre makers to create magic in the bog just on the edge of Wells. Get out of the black box and see just how wild theatre can be! \nSet in the meadow on the edge of the town of Wells\, on the traditional territory of the Lhtako Dene\, in an area with significant land use of the Dakelh and Secwépemc peoples\, Theatre in the Bog leaves the seats and stages behind\, allowing creators to explore beyond the boundaries of conventional theatre. Against a backdrop of scrubby spruce\, pine and willow\, audiences are led through the woods to see original performances that artists have cooked up over the course of a week.

SUMMARY:ArtsWells 2025
DESCRIPTION:📣🎉We are very excited to announce that we are going ahead with ArtsWells 2025! \nThis year\, the festival will take place on June 27 – 29.\nWe had worked hard to “bring back” the festival last year\, presenting a new iteration that we had carefully built and curated. \nHowever\, the postponement of ArtsWells 2024 due to fire strengthened our resolve to continue. We believe this community and this region deserve an event like ArtsWells\, something that celebrates the unique local spirit while inviting artists and listeners to our little town. We’re getting back on the horse and making it happen! \nWe believe these new dates will allow the festival to take place at time when the weather is comfortable in Wells. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the businesses and fellow NFPs in Wells and Barkerville that have helped us make this switch a reality.
