Within each baggie will be a scrap piece of paper—a prompt to contribute to an ongoing archive in any way that feels right to you. \nThrough this collective time\, the artist hopes to continue nurturing acts of sharing space\, stories\,energy\, and food—together. \n\n\nArtist Bio:  🔮 Snack Witch aka Joni Cheung 🍡 is a grateful\, uninvited guest born—and knows she wants to die—on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm\, Skwxwú7mesh\, Stó:lō\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh peoples. They are currently toiling over their MFA on the stolen lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka peoples to become a Certified Sculpture Witch at Concordia University. She holds a BFA with Distinction in Visual Art (2018) from the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University. As a wicked #magicalgirl ✨ who eats art and makes snacks\, she has exhibited and curated shows\, off- and online\, across Turtle Island.\n\nAll ages welcome. These platforms provide knowledge that can be easily disseminated between family and friends who physically can’t be together. In these worlds\, authors can speak to their connections to dishes they are teaching others to make. However\, some narratives need to be re-examined and chewed on.\n\nMotivated by her ancestors’ relationship to food and migration\, Soba’s Corner is a video series that unpacks distinct Chinese-Canadian dishes from specific provinces. Posted on YouTube and disguised as a typical how-to cooking show\, another conversation and narrative are hidden in the Canadian English closed captions and the “recipe” linked in the description box.\n\nAbout the Artist:  Snack Witch aka Joni Cheung  is a grateful\, uninvited guest born—and knows she wants to die—on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm\, Skwxwú7mesh\, Stó:lō\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh peoples. DESCRIPTION:Burns Night is a time to enjoy Scottish traditions and celebrate the renowned poet Robert Burns. The celebrations centre around the Bard’s birthday on January 25th. They first began in 1801 and have continued all over the world as an homage to his words and Scotland’s enduring legacy of creativity. \nJoin us at the Wells Hotel on Sunday\, January 26th for an evening that will feature music\, poetry\, food\, whiskey\, and good company. In the past\, we’ve hosted our popular buffet dinners\, but this year we’re doing something a little different to bring some Chinese delicacies to the table. \nThe 2025 Lunar New Year Tasting Menu features a six-course dinner of house-made traditional Chinese dishes in tasting-size portions. \nThe Menu:\n葱油饼 Scallion Pancake\n凉面 Cold Noodle Salad\n酸辣汤 Hot and Sour Soup\n燒賣 Shrimp and Pork Dumpling\n北京烤鸭 Peking Duck\n芒果布甸 Mango Pudding \nCelebrate the Year of the Snake with food experience that makes for a great date night\, or friends and family gathering.
